Asian Civilization Museum

It is a world class museum packed with fascinating information, and presented in interesting and innovative ways.
There are eleven galleries spread over three floors, and each themed gallery is integrated with virtual hosts (a hit with the kids), videos and interactive 'ExploreAsian Zones' which are learning zones designed for children.

If you are interested in textiles there are some breathtakingly beautiful Batik and Ikat, stunning fabrics from the hill tribes of Southern China, silk carpets, and many other beautiful artifacts in the South East Asia Gallery.
If ceramics is more your thing, the museum is well-known for its collection of white Dehua porcelain from China. Also known as 'blanc de chine', these finely moulded pieces are from the Ming and Ching periods.

The building is a fine example of colonial architecture. Designed by engineer J.F.A NcNair in the mid-1860s and built by convict labour as government offices, it was originally much smaller.
It was renamed 'Empress Place Building' at the start of the twentieth century in honour of Queen Victoria, and continued to house government offices until a major reconversion began in the 1990s.
Incorporate a visit to the museum with lunch out on the terrace, overlooking the river. The Siem Rep II Cafe has a good range of Indochine and western food, with reasonable children's menu.

It’s a place that not only makes the kids happy, it also makes me very happy. The park is spacious, very windy and you get to see lots of beautiful sights like deep blue skies, the sea and ships. Best of all, for something so natural and lovely, you don’t have to pay a single cent to enjoy it all. I love it.

The landmark structure and mega playground at Woodlands Waterfront Park is really strong-looking. Not exactly suitable for toddlers, for sure. But school-going kids and adults would find it interesting and fun

    Feeding rabbits in Animal farm

    Kampong farm

Children are usually great fans of animals. They will have great time here with close encounters with small farm animals especially if they could hand feed them. For parents, this is a great place to escape from the concrete city building to a simpler "Kampong" life style. What's more, do I mention that the admission is "Free" ?

For family, if you want get in touch with nature and animals and do not plan for a full scale visit to the zoo, here is the best alternatives. The Animal Resort sprawled over 5 acres of rural land where your children could roam freely and smell fresher air.

    Hort Park

This have to be our favorite park besides Jacob Ballas Children’s Garden The place is much bigger and since it showcases products from different horticultural companies, things are always changing so there are plenty of things to see. We love the huge variety of plants, the ample space to explore and play.

Hort Park Entrance at 33 Hyderabad Road

Fishes in the pond in front of the park.

The huge water feature near the entrance make the kids extremely excited. A vending machine with fish food in a capsule is conveniently placed right beside so the kids get to feed the fishes.

Eye Candy and Places to Run about

The visitor center has a beautiful mosaic and glass mural which we feast our eyes on.. Trees Mural at the Visitor Center. Flowers details on the Mural. Hort Park Event Lawn overlooking the Silver Garden

    Playgrounds

There are three playgrounds for different age groups while we were there. Each looks like fun.

    Plots of Garden

The show cases offers a huge variety of layout and garden-scape. We love the tin man and the scare-crow, and enjoyed the zen and holistic garden as well as the butterflies fluttering around.

    Jacob Ballas Children’s Garden

Jacob Ballas Children’s Garden. It was a hit!The place have a great variety of things to play with and lots of room to run and explore. It was great for mummy too as there is plenty of beautiful trees and flowers with clear signs and little bits of information around the garden to make the trip an educational one for both of us.
The visitor centre of the park have a very interesting sculpture in the shape of a tree. The “leaves”on closer observation looks like shapes of children playing. Be sure to eat something first if you are hungry as you are not suppose to bring food to eat inside the garden. The kids cafe is so inviting with a beautiful mural. Our dear boy immediately decide that the first thing he wants to do is to have some food at the cafe first.

We were greeted with the view of the water play area.

I am impressed to see so many plants with nice big signs to help me recognize the plants that we usually only see at the supermarket. Some of the signs give informative background about the plants.

The real highlight of the trip is however this….the tree house.

There are easy stairs leading to the top of the tree house but there is also a ladder that leads to the higher part of the tree house.

Other than the tree house, there is also a suspension bridge and waterfall with a cave that the little boy can’t get enough of.
After exploring the suspension bridge, we crossed a little stream and came to a pond with a floating platform.

There are pretty water lilies and a floating platform so that we can get a closer look at the plants and animals in the pond. We spotted a water stick insect and some fishes, some dragonflies and this statue of a flamingo.
Near the pond is a tree that was struck by lightning. It makes a good place for a game of hide and seek.
This is where children can learn about photosynthesis.
Another play and learn area. It is right beside the maze…were we had a good time playing catching.
We ended the day in the playground where there are a few interesting play items not seen else where. Such as this seesaw. There is also a rotating disc and device that looks like an ice-cream scope which the kids love.
